Grana Padano

A mild Italian hard cheese

Grana Padano is a hard Italian cheese that often gets confused with its close relative, Parmesan. Their tastes, textures, and method of production, which incidentally take place on either side of the Po River in Italy, are similar. But Grana Padano is slightly milder, less grainy and lower in fat than Parmesan. Since it matures a little faster, requiring only 9 months to age, it is also a cheaper alternative.
